10/30/25 - Added story skip and started intro level
I added a little extra system where you can skip the story, if it's your second or third or whatever playthrough of the game. The main purpose of it though is so that it doesn't slow down testing, and so that I don't have to wait for the entire typewriter effect before I can test something.
I also started work on the intro level, and the IGUI (In-Game User Interface). I'm not sure if that's the correct term to use since it's more like HUD but that's what I'm calling it for now, and I don't plan on changing it. This IGUI will display the amount of hearts you have, your hotbar (I'm going with a 3 slot hotbar for this game), and a little backpack in the bottom to open up your inventory. So far, I'm planning on the health system acting a little bit like Zelda: Breath of the Wild or I think it's the same in Tears of the Kingdom and most other Zelda games, but anyways, you'll start with 3 hearts and after reaching a shrine (once I make more progress I'll tell you more about what these are and how they benefit you), you can choose to unlock more hearts, abilities, or maybe a weapon, but I'm not sure yet. We'll have to deal with that when we get there. Also, if this sounds a lot like a Zelda game, I will say, this is not a copy or runoff of Zelda. Sure, some elements in BOTW may be similar to those in chime, but the game will definitely not be the same as Zelda in terms of Open-World, the story, and playstyle. I will admit, I did take a lot of inspiration from that game, but by no means is this meant to be a near-exact copy of that game. I created this game with the purpose to create a unique, fun, and lore-deep game with at least somewhere around 30 minutes of gameplay.
That being said, I made some pretty good progress today, and in the process of setting up the intro level, I'm a step closer to completing the intro level which then I will post the game in early-access onto Itch.
Finally, thanks for those people who actually read this, I'm a single-dev teenager and as far as I know, I have no audience, and I'm doing my best to pull a little bit of attraction towards my game. For those who are interested, just even saying something or leaving a comment boosts my push to finish this game a whole ton, because I know that people actually want to see it. Thanks, and I'll probably update you tomorrow. See ya.
